From the spring of 2013 to the fall of 2014, at the height of the foreclosure crisis in Milwaukee, Porch Sitting created social gatherings at boarded up houses in different neighborhoods. These weekly actions grew into neighborhood gatherings, and everyone who came brought different activities or instigated unique moments of joy for anyone around. We carved pumpkins, watched a packer game on a TV running off of a car battery, helped a neighbor move a refrigerator, drank tea, played games, laughed, talked - we became spontaneous neighbors.
